Decoshow Editor's Review

When choosing a new look for your home, it can often be difficult to get a meaningful impression of how your new decorative choices will work out in real life. It's hard to be sure how everything will look before it's all in place -- by which time you've made an expensive commitment.

Decoshow lets you simulate an interior so that you can try out different looks for your room before you decide on the one that's right for you. The software even allows you to upload a digital photograph of the room that you're planning to decorate so that you can see how different styles will work in that space.

The interface is fairly simple to master. The software allows you to select a room to work on from thumbnail photos. There are options for various elements, such as carpets, curtains and wall coverings. You can select these and apply different colours, patterns, and materials.

Pro's: It's a useful design tool with a comprehensive library of materials. The colour-picker tool lets you match your desired shades very exactly

Con's: Doesn't work well at lower screen resolutions. The minimum recommended resolution is 1024 x 768; not so great for a smaller laptop.

Conclusion: At 29 € (around 25 £ GBP or 40 $ USD), Decoshow is not exactly cheap -- but it's still less expensive than redecorating in a couple of months because you can't stand your new paint job. The demo version is free so you can try before you buy.
